Payment methods

Discover payment methods for each request.

Build against PerionPayments' common payment lifecycle and use the methods returned for the account, currency, and amount. Availability can differ by account and environment: a live account lists its own methods, such as EcoCash, Visa & Mastercard and ZimSwitch.

  1. Discover, do not hard-code

Call GET /v1/payment_methods with the amount and currency, using a token with the payment_methods:read scope. Offer a method only when the response lists it, and show the display name it returns.

  2. Keep one attempt

For a wallet, normalize the payer's mobile number on your server, confirm once with an idempotency key, and keep the returned payment intent. A timeout means processing; it never means “send another debit.”

  3. Wait for the result

A wallet asks the payer to approve on their phone; a card goes to the card acquirer's secure page, which PerionPayments opens for you. Check the same payment intent, and fulfill only after a signed PerionPayments event or a server-side read shows it succeeded for the expected amount and currency.

Currencies

The API takes US dollars (USD) and ZiG (ZWG), both with 2 decimal places, so amounts are in cents. Each account lists the methods it takes in a currency when you call GET /v1/payment_methods with that currency; offer ZiG only when methods come back for it.
